The Fiskars brand has a history dating back to 1649 when a blast furness in the village of Fiskars in Finland. The Fiskars Corporation progressed from making nails, wire, hoes and iron wheels to making knives and became an important steel and ironworks company making machinery and engines as well as small utensils and tools.

Fiskars have been making scissors for over 130 years and their orange-handled scissors are known all over the world. Over a billion pairs have been sold.

Today
Many people in the UK willhave been using Fiskars tools without perhaps knowing it. They have been branding their gardening tools in the UK as Wilkinson Sword for decades. They have decided not to renew that license this year (2009) and will sell their tools as Fiskars rather than Wilkinson Sword. That is why you will find a mix of Wilkinson Sword and Fiskars branded tools here. It is only in the UK that their tools have been branded as Wilkinson Sword. In the rest of the world the Fiskars brand is perhaps more well known although any of you with an interest in craft as a hobby will know that Fiskars are a leading brand in that field.
